Can Hypnotherapy Work With Video Calls?

After my first seven years in business in Los Angeles, I moved my offices to Brea, in Orange County.  It was not much more than 50 miles from my previous location, but because of the heavy traffic in Southern California, it was as if I’d moved several hours away.  My clients wanted to stay with me, but the drive was getting to them.  So, in 2006 I began seeing clients through Skype.  I was able to develop a new client base in Orange County while continuing to provide service to my L.A. crowd.

Fourteen years later, I moved my offices to the Pacific Northwest where I maintain a full schedule of in-office for those who prefer that experience and Skype or other online platforms for others.  In this past 13 years of working with Skype, Zoom, Google Hangouts, Facebook IM, and even a cell phone, I have found an appreciation for those who prefer to work remotely.

To begin with, it is hugely convenient.  You don’t have to get dressed and wash your face and drive in traffic.  You can save the time and costs of commuting, even if only thirty minutes.  Clients who have disabilities, or driving fears, or agoraphobia love this option.  It could be the difference between them getting help and not getting help.

Another benefit for Skype is that it gives you A GREATER SENSE OF ANONYMITY in private, confidential sessions. Often times I have clients working on specific goals (i.e. weight loss, self-confidence, etc.), and they don’t want anyone to know they are seeking help, to avoid others’ sabotaging the process.

You might also consider the flexibility in scheduling a hypnotherapy session that works with your/our schedule.  No more waiting in a room for your appointment to begin!  You can save time and book a hypnotherapy session from home.  Imagine being able to sprawl out on your own couch, chair or bed—the comfort of it all.  You’re able to create the ideal environment for you, so you can relax right into your session.  TOTAL PRIVACY, EFFECTIVE HYPNOSIS (from any location or country with Internet).

Some tell me they are able to reach deeper and wider hypnosis trances as a result of feeling safer and more secure in their own environment.  That makes sense for those who prefer to go into trance without someone else in the room.  This is much better than a pre-recorded session (although I often provide those to supplement our work).  I can observe your body and face language as the session progresses, and make adjustments where necessary, both in person and on Skype.

Here are some questions you might have about Skype as a method for positive change:

As I said earlier, I’ve been doing Skype sessions for 13 years.  During that time I’ve hypnotized thousands of people and my success rates “mirror” my in-office sessions.  I take great care to ensure my clients receive all the benefits of an in-office session.

Hypnotherapy via Skype is really quite easy.  All you need is a stable Internet connection, a computer (or other Skype-compatible devices, such as iPhone, Tablet PC, etc.).  Earbuds or headphones are strictly your choices.  Some people prefer it because the headphones block out noise at their end and allow an easy focus on my suggestions, but that isn’t necessary.  Most find the speakers on their computer to be sufficient.

Once we’ve accomplished the simple connection, my voice will stream across the Internet and right into your ears.  You’ll experience the total effect of my words, voice and the hypnotherapy session as if you were in my office.  My voice is all you’ll need for me to help you relax, close your eyes, and enter into a trance.  My words and tone of voice will also help you “switch off” so I can bypass your critical conscious mind and get to the subconscious, where all change takes place.  I’m sure you see that doing Skype sessions is just as easy and as effective as doing it face-to-face.

This is not a problem at all.  I will simply call you back on Skype or directly to your cell and we will re-establish our session and connection easily and effectively.  To be clear, I’ve conducted thousands of sessions and dropped calls are a very rare occurrence.  But, in the unlikely event, our Skype connection can’t be re-established, your session will be honored at a convenient, mutually agreed upon date/time.

To begin with, Skype sessions give you the freedom to work with a successful, experienced hypnotherapist, regardless if you’re in another room (across town or in a different country).

The very moment you close your eyes, you’ll experience the same high-quality hypnotherapy session as if you were in the same room with me.  And, we’ll share that room together, from the comfort created inside your mind. You only need a comfortable, private space and a bit of quiet time, free from interruptions.

In fact, I often hypnotize clients via Skype while they’re at home, work, or in a hotel room.  Skype hypnotherapy sessions work well with your lifestyle, providing you with plenty of flexibility—even if you travel a lot or are a professional pressed for time.

Skype sessions also work extremely well because many people feel more safe and comfortable in their own environment.  And again, there’s not a need for you to travel to me, eliminating the potential of a stressful journey, commute, or traffic jams—all which might cause you to experience further stress about being late for an in-person session.  Skype sessions eliminate all of this, leaving you in a more relaxed state as your session begins.  This allows you to slip into a deeper hypnotic trance of a more effective session.

Just like an in-office session, the most important part is simply showing up and “allowing” the process to work.  We’ll talk about what this entails prior to booking the session, but you need to make sure you’re available for the scheduled Skype session and make the call at the agreed-upon time.

Ensure you won’t be disturbed during the hypnosis session.  Turn off all alarms, phones, or other sound notifications in advance.

Use a comfortable recliner or chair, couch or even a bed with three pillows to avoid falling asleep.  Your subconscious mind is alerted to the fact that you want to sleep when you lie down.  In most cases, a light trance works best and I’ll be sure to see that you don’t go too deeply.

Avoid drinking caffeinated beverages, coffee, and alcohol prior to your session.  You might want to perhaps eat something light about an hour prior to the session, so hunger isn’t a distraction.

Allow plenty of time for your session.  They usually last between 1 ½ to 2 hours in length.

  1. Skype account.  This is free.  Simply download from your browser into your computer and you’re ready to go.  Whether Skype, Zoom, Facebook or other platforms, we’ll be sure to go over everything to make sure it’s functioning for you prior to beginning the session.
  2. Desktop computer, Tablet PC, laptop, or smart phone (with Skype installed).
  3. Comfortable set of headphones, if you’d like.  But, it works very well simply using the computer speakers.

If you cannot or choose not to come into the office for an in-person hypnotherapy session, Skype hypnosis sessions can help you make the changes you want to make in your life.  You can get the help you need in the comfort and privacy of your home, office, hotel, or other location.  I’ve even helped people via their cell phones, parked in an empty parking lot.  Using Skype hypnotherapy, I’ve helped a plethora of people just like you from just about every place over the world—all over the USA, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, Finland and elsewhere.  I can effectively help you with:
